Céol is an international writer, currently working on two projects: a dystopian novel and a utopian novel, worlds where autistic and neurodivergent people feel welcome. Do these two novels intersect and play off of each other?
That's just one of the areas we explore in our conversation today.
Céol and I chat about the nature and mindset of writing, is it a struggle, is it a joy, could it be both, and maybe even at the same time?!
Our conversation focuses on writing for neurodivergent multipotentialites, and Céol shares their different approach to deadlines and coworking, not to mention how to approach publishing. There's even a touch of sewing thrown in for context!
A novel is typically a pretty mammoth task, something that can take many months or years to complete. This is not so much an episode for the NaNoWriMo crowd - neurodivergent multipotentialite authors may want to set their own pace instead. And Céol helps guide us through some good activities and techniques.
"Thinking about your novel is writing your novel, and you should think about it as such."
