Filmmaking, Acting and Deconditioning. With Elin Gunnarsdotter Sandvik

Today’s conversation is a study in creativity and multipotentiality, with a focus on filmmaking - a new topic for The MultiPod? Perhaps, but good timing as it turns out!

Elin Gunnarsdotter Sandvik has a short film in the works, Moonlight Ode, which in fact you can help bring to reality with the crowdfunding campaign. The film

follows a female character «I» on her rough ride from inner constrictions to embodied freedom. From a sandy beach, through black lava landscape to a green mountain top on Gran Canaria, an island with electromagnetic fields called the most powerful in the world. Hidden forces and essential truths are finally coming into fruition. Light is brought into the darkness.

Help bring Moonlight Ode to fruition through the crowdfunding campaign here! https://gofund.me/5a43a168

Elin is a Norwegian actor and filmmaker who was blessed with a wonderful multipotentialite education that encouraged experimental approaches and multidisciplinary training.

Ever since, Elin has naturally gravitated towards projects and collaborative partners who embrace different, original approaches to film and dramatic arts. In other words, not going by the book. "We don't follow rules, we do what we want to do, to not box anything in."

Much of this is related to the concept of "deconditioning"- allowing the feelings, expressing them, honouring them, and looking the uncomfortable in the eyes. Deconditioning the performers and the audience from the social expectations to react a certain way.

We also chat about building a career in film in Norway, and beyond. Do you have to leave the country to succeed, and make a living? How has Elin found online community and collaborative partners, from across Europe and beyond? One example being her collaborative feature project Maid Mother Crone: https://www.earthingproductions.com/maid-mother-crone

And then there are the dreaded deadlines; but maybe deadlines in fact can help you frame the time it takes to reach milestones, and ultimately completion of a project.

If you are interested in filmmaking, screenwriting, acting, theatre or indeed any combination of the dramatic arts, today is a great conversation that recognizes multipotentialites and their identity.

"I genuinely believe that through creating we can reach a place of true connection and communicating." - Elin Gunnarsdotter Sandvik
