Friend of the show and someone well-known to many of our listeners and viewers, John McKenzie drops by today to share some travel stories from a remarkable year of travel, even by his standards.
In the past 12 months he's flown over Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls), toured post-Assad Syria, done a Scandinavian circuit, added his 75th new country visited (Ireland), and still had time for lots of domestic travel around the United States, visiting family & friends. In fact, John and I saw each other for a fifth time in person this past June, at Camp Indie.
Oh, and he's organized and hosted the first two CuriosiTrips: his original approach to group travel, spontaneity and multipotentiality.
CuriosiTrips combine the best of group travel: shared experiences, guided information and stories, logistical details and safety & security, with the freedom to still explore on your own and follow your nose.
Itineraries are loosely structured to allow for both curated experiences and spontaneous activities, for which you're welcome to include other members of the group, but there's no obligation or pressure to do so.
If you're keen to visit a place for the first time but want a bit more structure in doing so, or if you've been to a certain place but want to see it from a different perspective, CuriosiTrips are a great option.
The first trip took place in January of 2025 in Mexico City, and the second in May, in Washington, DC. Now, John is heading back to CDMX to revisit a few familiar sights, discover new ones, and take another group of curious travelers with him!
